about

An album from the dark tome which tells, with the magic of music, the tale of Sigaldry when he journeyed far into the east. There he wandered long, seeking old songs nearly lost in the darkness. It was an arduous task, but he proved victorious. There, he gazed into a crystal and beheld a vision from the past. There was war and slaughter. Swords rang and horns cried. He perceived the Shadow Fortress, as it had once stood mightily, ruled over by the dreaded giant, Lord Barastor. Seven relics he found and bore away; seven songs to be released which shall provide a glimpse into that olden time when the bravery of men was verily tested. He saw a grave battle crawl on for ten and seven days. Indeed, the Men of Myst would not have prevailed but for the aid of the Wandering Wardens and a great, unlooked-for, sorcerer. At the end of the final day, the warriors at last seized Lord Barastor, called forth the sorcerer who, with a great casting of spellwork, clove his head asunder in a flash of lightning, and thus vanquished the Shadow Fortress, ending the darkness of that realm. The towers fell from aloft, the precipice ruptured, and the fortress vanished.

The face you see on the cover of this album was the mask of Lord Barastor. Sigaldry found it lying in the earth, amongst the fortress ruins. He now carries it along his travels, for Barastor's shrouded shadow to perceive as it aimlessly wanders the land, endlessly recalling the defeat he endured that day.
